Math 6_ October 9

Today we…

* Learned about dividing with fractions!

* Used pictures to represent division

* Discussed what division “means”

Here was our warm up

The answers were: 1 x 2/3 = 2/3 (since anything multiplied by 1 is itself) and 2 x 3/4 = 6/4 (or 1 1/2) since we can write any whole number with a 1 as a denominator and then multiply across.

We looked at dividing whole numbers by fractions…

And determined…

We can use our fraction charts to see how many 1/2’s go into 1.

And then apply the same principle to 4 wholes.

If you are working on homework and see leftovers, try to see if the leftovers add up to be enough to divide out the fraction another time.
