Today in class we discussed Set Relationships

Here are our class notes: (my phone doesn’t want to upload photos…)

Definition- Mutually exclusive: Contradictory; Both cannot be true at the same time.

Example: when flipping a coin, it cannot land on heads and tails at the same time.

Mutually Exclusive events are represented by “Disjoint” Venn Diagram Circles (they do not overlap).

 

Thus P(A and B) = 0.
